Health & WEight Management

HEALTH & WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Health and weight management is very difficult for many people.  We live in a society where it is very hard to know what we're getting when we're eating, and there is a great deal of misinformation out there.  Many have tried and failed, given up, tried again, and its frustrating.  There are so many emotions mixed up with health and weight that it can make it a minefield to try to address.

In therapy, we start off with learning how to love ourselves as we are because starting a program from a place of shame, fear, and disgust is less likely to be successful.  Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), you can begin to shift the way you think, and begin to build healthier coping in order to begin a road to health.  We develop a plan that is not based on deprivation or strict rules, but rather learning how to eat, take care of your body, and connect with the positive feelings around taking the steps in the direction of your values and goals.

Many clients have tried numerous ways to improve their health and some feel like it should be simple, just eat less and exercise more, but what we work on in therapy are all of the things that get in the way of doing what we often know we should be doing.  I work with individuals and couples, and together we can help you to meet your goals and improve your health and quality of life.
