Anxiety can get in the way of enjoying life, doing everyday activities, and living in general. Whether it be Generalized Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Social Anxiety, and other types of anxiety, you don't have to live like this forever. Therapy can help to decrease symptoms of anxiety and help you to move forward in your life. I have worked with many people who have struggled with anxiety and those who have felt paralyzed by its effects. Some are afraid to leave their home, unable to sleep, and thought that they had to give up on their life dreams due to anxiety. Whether you are a child, adolescent, or adult, we can learn ways to deal with anxiety so it no longer gets in the way of you living your life.
Whether your anxiety is due to traumatic experiences, stressful life events, biological differences, medical problems, or sources that you can't pinpoint, we can work on learning ways to change your physical reactions, change your thinking patterns, and help you overcome anxiety. If there has been a trauma that has caused the anxiety, we can process the trauma so you are no longer terrorized by that experience. |
By using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we can help to change your thinking to combat those anxious thoughts, manage physical symptoms of anxiety, and change avoidant behaviors. If you are plagued by unprocessed trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing can help you to overcome the trauma. In addition to these two treatments, my therapy practice is also influenced by Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Family Therapy.
