ACADEMIC PROBLEMS

ACADEMIC PROBLEMS

Picture
Academic problems can be very difficult to deal with and identifying the factors contributing to the academic problems can be complicated.  Is it the student, the school, a learning disability, ADHD, emotional problems, oppositionality, a lack of academic skills, a neurological problem, or a lack of good study habits?  In addition to individual and family therapy, I also provide neuro/psycho/educational assessments for middle school, high school, college, and graduate school students (e.g., law school, medical school) to assess the student's strengths and weaknesses and help develop a plan for success.  Sometimes a full assessment isn't necessary and some adjustments in the way the student is doing homework can help lead to the student's success.  I first consult with the student and/or family members to understand what the problems are, determine what the most economical and practical solutions are, then develop a treatment plan to review together, start off with a screening if testing is indicated, then discuss whether a full assessment is required.  Dealing with academic problems can be tough so I help individuals to succeed in school, enjoy their educational experience, and see a brighter future.
